Book Group

St. Paul’s Book Group is an excellent opportunity to get to know others at St. Paul’s through conversation and a mutual love of reading. We meet monthly (the first Wednesday of the month), discussing a wide variety of books, including historical fiction, religious works, classics and many more. No commitment is required—come to one meeting or come to them all. Kick back and relax with a glass of wine and talk more intimately with new friends at St. Paul’s! St. Paul’s book group meets in the Rectory (the yellow building next to the church).

Here’s a sampling of books that we’ve read recently:

  • Persuasion by Jane Austen
  • The Boston Girl by Anita Diamant
  • The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
  • The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
  • The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty
  • Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
  • The Last Painting of Sara de Vos by Domonic Smith
  • Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson
  • Pompeii: A Novel by Robert Harris
  • The Story of the Other Wise Man by Henry van Dyke
  • The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell

Plus a Lenten Study of Being Christian: Baptism, Bible, Eucharist, Prayer by former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams.

The Blue Bunny has the book in stock with a 20% discount if you mention St. Paul’s Book Group. You can also borrow a copy through the library or order it through Amazon. All are welcome to drop in to this friendly group, especially if you haven’t attended before. Please let Jen Luszcz know if she can help with books, rides or anything else.

Movie Reflection Group

If you enjoy the movies….this is the group for you. Once a month (late Sunday afternoon) we venture to the Dedham Community Theatre at 580 High Street to see a movie. No need to RSVP, simply arrive for the movie and look for Reverend McCarley. Following the movie we enjoy dinner and a discussion reflecting on the themes, acting and directing of the movie. Join us for lively discussion and entertainment that supports our local community.
